Listen To The Forest

Listen to the Forest is a gathering of our community to share our experiences in and of Nature.  We can’t experience sacred if we are isolated.  To experience the Sacred is always to connect.  It isn’t always with another person.  It may be a bird, the wind, the quiet of the stream.  A song, a storm or simply a  inward feeling of warmth.  Whatever it is we know it because the connection always moves us beyond  ourselves into something greater.  As Margaret Wheatley says:  “Sacred experiences give us what we need to live in this strange yet wonderous time.  We need as many sacred moments as we can find. We invite these moments when we open to life and to each other.  In those grace-filled moments of greeting, we know we’re part of all this, and that it’s all right.”

Listen to the Forest meets from Tuesdays, 7 to 9pm shortly after each Forest Church Sacred Sunday

There will be no Listen to the Forest in July and August

When I am among the trees,
especially the willows and the honey locust,
equally the beech, the oaks, and the pines,
they give off such hints of gladness.

I would almost say that they save me, and daily.
I am so distant from the hope of myself,
in which I have goodness, and discernment,
and never hurry through the world
but walk slowly, and bow often.
Around me the trees stir in their leaves
and call out, “Stay awhile.”

The light flows from their branches.
And they call again, “It’s simple,”
they say, “and you, too, have come
into the world to do this, to go easy,
to be filled with light, and to shine.”
